My Experience Running with Satisfy in New York (a chill Sunday)
Fast, aesthetic, and kind — how this community brings together NYC’s finest driven by adrenaline, caffeine, and long, slow distances.
Since moving to Bed Stuy, Brooklyn after graduation, I’ve been searching for a community that shares my passion for running and connection. What better way to start than with a 10-mile run along the Brooklyn waterfront at 7:30 AM on a Sunday?
As I arrived, the atmosphere was electric — smiles, Maurten gels, bars, and coffee fueling champions. I had to step aside to let the caffeine work its magic (shoutout to all my fellow AM warriors). Then, the run began.
It was a perfect morning — sunny, around 70°F (~27°C), and humid. Our group took over the streets of Downtown Brooklyn, where the early hour meant quiet roads and most New Yorkers still enjoying their Sunday lie-ins.
What stood out was the inclusivity — organizers thoughtfully scheduled frequent stops, allowing runners of all paces to catch up, mingle, and hydrate. This wasn’t just a run; it was a community effort, welcoming everyone, no matter their speed.
(Das me on the right :) )
Throughout the run, I met an incredible range of people — from models who master aesthetics (didn’t realize dude was IG-famous with 100k+ followers) to multi-million-dollar tech startup founders just looking to connect, much like me.
Post-run, we were treated to delicious bites: yogurt bowls (pictured below), burrata toast, and, of course, more coffee — because you can never have too much. The conversations flowed, hearts slowed, and contacts exchanged.
The reach and spirit of this event were boundless. I’m already looking forward to the next one in August. :)
Catch you on the next one ;)
